Dallas High School Tearin' It Up for the Tear Down Music Festival and Reunion

Before Dallas High School was torn down, alumni wanted to have one final reunion extravaganza to celebrate the many memories made at the school. The school invited wish kid Andrew to join the festivities at the Dallas High School Tearin' It Up for the Tear Down Music Festival and Reunion on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds. Andrew was quite the showman, pictured here dancing and playing the tambourine with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins mascot. A portion of the proceeds from ticket and vendor sales was donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Wish kid Beth, Andrew's grandmother Linda, wish kid Andrew and Make-A-Wish Regional Manager Maggie O'Brien posed for a photo in front of the stage at the festival. The festival included many festivities, a fireworks display and music by several bands with Dallas alumni playing, including Dymond Cutter, Concrete Road, Bus 5, Southbound, Strawberry Jam, Studio 309, Echo Whiskey Charlie, RJ (of Stealing Neil), Mother Nature’s Sons and several other bands. Beth, event organizers Diane Morse and Chris Gillis, Andrew, his grandmother Linda and Maggie O'Brien enjoy the beautiful day at the festival. Andrew had a turn sitting in the dunk tank. Andrew takes his turn trying to dunk another festival guest in the tank. Andrew's wish to visit the Walt Disney World® Resort was granted this past April.
Dallas High School alum David Williams, a member of the Dallas High School Class of 1977, is now chief executive officer of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America in Phoenix, Ariz. Although David could not be at the festival, a video message from him was played. Regional Manager Maggie O'Brien took a picture next to the video image of David.
